The Escape from the Monster Mansion Game

In our last post (HERE!) we took a close looksie at the cover of the Monster Christmas Mash '74 record which creature-featured some rather awesome monster art by the great George Peed. Well, now we're flipping the record over and OMG is there actually a horror themed board game on the flip-side?!! YES-- there is actually a horror themed board game on the flip-side!! So while you're rockin' out to the silly sounds of that 'ol 33 1/3rd, gather your friends 'round the fire and have yourself a terrifyin' time escaping from Monster Mansion! Once again, astounding art by George Peed, and I've even included the how-to and rules of the game! Also, a link to my favorite song on side two HERE! Is this the greatest 70's kid's xmas record of all time? You freakin' know it is...

Game looks simple, but the art makes it spectacular!

The song is fun, and they name check Tiny Tim; it's amazing the cultural impact that guy had!

I like how Peed made sure to keep the models from the front (with some changes, though.). Nearly the same werewolf, purple vampire, Frankenstein, etc. Those blood drops on the font are very Eerie pubs!

Yeah, I really dig that font styling too. I also like the skeleton being locked in the closet--so obvious and yet so classic! Jibes nicely with Frankie locked in the lab over in the other corner of the mansion.

This thing is so clever. I love a world in which they've hidden surprise board games in unexpected places.

Glad you guys enjoyed it, and the other side of this record too!
