Kills 'Em Dead!

Cute, but deadly art adorning the shelf edges of a vintage metal RAID / OFF! bug spray display stand that I saw at an antique mall this afternoon. God, I would love to have it and display my own plethora of cute 'n deadly junk upon it, but unfortunately it wasn't for sale-- wah!

Rock 'n Roll Monkey, or: Dress Like Mommy

A small sampling of fun stuff from the toy section of a National Bellas Hess bargains mail order catalog, dated 1958... lots of neat items in this one, I might post more from it later this month.

Lady's Circle

A super cute illustration by Bob Deschamps in the September 1965 issue of Lady's Circle Magazine... let's blow it up a bit and take a look at each hard-workin' little lady individually too!

Fun with Franks

It's a beautiful, sunny day here in MO, and it looks like the temps are gonna be high 60's perfect. Not too cold, not too hot-- and just right for hot dogs! And fyi, we're only 16 days away from spring, so what better way to defrost the BBQ grill than with a cute article from the Sept '65 issue of Lady's Circle magazine, featuring fun ideas about how to spruce up those gol'dang greasy diggities! I'm definitely leaning more towards cheese or mashed potato stuffed dogs over the corn or cabbaged ones, and although the "Oriental Delight" sounds interesting, I'm probably not speaking too stereotypically (or out of place, hopefully) when I say the "Well-Loved Long Boys" are probably gonna be a wee bit more popular!

So come on, grab your wieners and make your day one of well-loved delight too!

Another pleasant helping of fun from this issue up NEXT!

Woody Woodpecker Cup (1965)

Another recent antique mall find is this wonderful Woody Woodpecker plastic cup, dated 1965, W.L.P. (Walter Lantz Productions.), featuring a mirror image of the wacky winged one on both sides as his hair ingeniously swoops into a curl to form the handle of the cup. The crazed look in those eyes makes me think that he can't wait to sink his pointy lil beak into the wooden, tree trunk texture that makes up the rest of the cup, just as I can't wait to fill it with some cereal! Paid $6 for it, which seems accurate according to current eBay prices-- if you gotta have one too there's plenty listed there from the $5 - $10 range. (*insert Woody Woodpecker laugh here)
