Masquerade Melee-- and More!

AEET celebrates Valentine's Day with a big dose of comic book story fun and goofy vintage greeting cards! And first up, from the November - December 1949 issue of School-Day Romances #1, it's teen reporter, Midge Martin in her very first appearance and on the scene, screwballin' Glenview High as well as a masquerade ball with her silly shenanigans. Featuring lots of skimpy, jungle costumed, golden era good-girl art that might just give Sheena, Tygra, Camilla, Ruhla, Pantha, (and even Jo-Jo) a run for their money! And we'll round things out with a handful of kooky cute, awfully offensive, and totally titillating vintage Valentine's from my own personal collection. So Happy February 14th to all you loony toon love birds out there!

That is some great art in the Midge Martin story, but, yeah, that kind of stuff isn't my cup of tea.

The cards are great -- I love the mechanics of the corset snapping, that's clever, though my favorite is the completely crazy cat. That's ... frightening! That's the one you hand out to the person you want to go away!

Happy v day, Karswell!

I'm loving that Rabbit in front of the TV, watching the carrot channel. That's just a glorious piece of art.

And I could read stories in which everyone is dressed up in sexy leopard costumes all day long. What, was there are special at the costume store or something? I love panel four and five of page four, in which Hercule's butt cheeks and Midge's bust are drawn to be nearly identical. So funny!

As someone who lives in a city with a resident panda I can tell you that all they ever do is hide.

Happy Valentine's Day!
