Vampirella Bites Cereal

We featured the vivacious, vampire vixen, Horribella, in our last post, so let's add in one with some REAL bite this time-- and oh lord, it's another one of my photoshopped breakfast cereals meets a monster, aka Vampirella, in a bloody good, sugar coated scream dream treat to start off your day (or evening hunt) right! Featuring FREE FANGS and a full flavor that explodes in, and all over your mouth! You just know that VAMPIRELLA BITES* would take the world by bloodstorm! Horribella

If you listened to the Count Morbida Chamber of Horrors record in our last post (HERE!), then you heard the voice of his ghoulish girlfriend, Horribella, who also played a role in the kooky spooky shenanigans. Now, if you foolishly judged her by her name, and / or if you're unfamiliar with what she actually looks like, you'd imagine from the tone of the voice acting on the record that she's a haggard looking old Witchie Poo wannabe, cackles, and skraggles, and warts and all! But that is hardly the case, foolish one! Just take a gander at The Count's lovely better half:





FYI: I was saving those Dynamite scans for Valentines Month, but what the heck, this blog could use some vivacious vampire vixen action any 'ol day of the year, right? And here's a few more monstrously terrible jokes for ya, courtesy of the Count's worst best friend, Frankie!

Count Morbida's Chamber of Horrors --and Puzzles!

Anyone who follows this blog knows that I love Dynamite Magazine! Seriously, any kid who was cool in the 70's and 80's read it, and if you didn't-- well then you certainly were no friend of mine! And one of my all time favorite re-occuring characters on said pages is the great Count Morbida, illustrated by the also great, Arthur Friedman. He looked like Count Chokula's crazy brudda frum anudda mudda, and he certainly knew how to deliver the fun when it came to games and puzzles. So still in full October swing, today we have a couple of the Count's puzzle pages from two 1975 issues, and as an added bonus I included the Count's foray into a very funny flexi record adventure accompanied by his ghoulish girlfriend, Horribella! Dark Angel

It wouldn't be October without raising a little Hell, and here we have the latest addition to my ever expanding Devil Shelf collection with Mattel's Power 'n Friction Dark Angel van from 1976. If they had made the movie THE CAR ('77) into THE VAN instead, I imagine that it would've looked a bit like this. Great side graphics, and the gold windows, gold grill, and golden rims are a super nice golden touch of contrast to the evil blackness as well. Unfortunately, I have no clue how the Power 'n Friction aka Power 'n Speed switch on the back works, it's possibly out of commission and / or in need of repair.

Batty Bats!

A blood suckin' set of vicious vampire bats kick off our October 2018 Halloween Countdown --as if everyday isn't a Halloween countdown! Yes, nothing says dark 'n spooky fall night better than wooden salt 'n pepper shakers with leathery wings 'n ears, and painted faces from 60's Japan!

Enos Better Says...

I recently found a couple of these late 50's blank note pads courtesy of the Illinois Bell Telephone Company. They were probably given out free to their customers back in the day to keep next to the phone to: jot down numbers! or, doodle upon aimlessly while talking long distance to your boring Aunt Brenda! Fun artwork on the covers though, and signed by someone named "NIX." One also has to wonder what unsafe act possibly happened at IBTC to warrant such a thing like this to even be produced --and I put this challenging question to YOU to safely find out!

Giant Robot ジャイアントロボ Storybook / Record ('67)

One of my all time favorite manga and TV shows ever is Johnny Sokko and his Flying Robot, aka Giant Robo, created in the late 60's by Mitsuteru Yokoyama. Yes, a young boy in complete control of a massive rampaging robot, while defending Earth against evil invaders is of course every kids ultimate dream (right up there with being Ultraman, for example!) Anyway, this 33 1/3 flexi disc from 1967 perfectly sums up the rock 'em sock 'em aspect of the manga (in color!) and is definitely one of the coolest records ever! Giant Robot, Kill!





















I found quite a few of these kiddie storybook records while in Japan earlier this summer, and I'll be scanning and posting them occasionally here at AEET over the next few months. Stay tuned...
