Pop Tarts Carrying Case

I sure do love Pop Tarts. They're seriously the perfect snack when you're in a hurry and on the go, and what better way to keep 'em warm and right-out-of-the-toaster toasty than with my handy dandy, pocket-sized, Pop Tarts carrying case. It's not particularly new, nor is it particularly old either (early 2000's), but it's still a great way to store / eat the second funnest food on the planet!

"200 Days 'til Halloween... Halloween..."

Have you seen these new Spinatures from Waxwork Records yet? No?!! Well then CLICK HERE ASAP, --and then CLICK HERE to see how they work! They're really cool, superbly made, half-figures with a hole on the bottom for you to place 'em on your turntable while spinning your favorite records. Around and around and around they go, --so far we've seen some Universal Monsters and Michael Myers hitting stores, while the other two trick 'r treater kids from H3 will be scrambling up driveways soon, not to mention They Live aliens and the Creature from the Black Lagoon! Don't have a record player? They still look wicked on your shelf. Get 'em while you can, the clock is ticking...

Mountain Murder / The Big Game Hunter

For our weekly Friday Frights this time around, let's all first reflect on what a Mega-Meh Springtime this has been so far. One day it's Spring, the next day it's back to Winter again. Nice. Bad. Hot. Cold. Warm. Frigid. Shimmering rays. Freezing rain. Yay! Ugh! ad nauseam... So to further fuel this downright deplorable discussion, I have two tales for you today that span the gory globe from the highest frozen mountain peaks, to the deepest, darkest corners of the sweltering jungles of Africa. One tale icy cool, the other boiling mad, and both are seriously just a wee bit crazy! Also, both are from the great 1950's Fight Against Crime horror / suspense series from Story Comics-- #12 and #13 to be exact-- just click the highlighted issue # for more info! Plus, two fine examples of mid-century advertising imitating "art."

50's Printing Plate Horrors

I typically only post things here on my blogs that I personally own, or things that I have personally photographed myself while out hunting, but recently I saw a few things online that I felt deserved your attention. Like an incredible, one-of-a-kind, original 50's metal print plate for a newsprint paneling store ad featuring a creepy character clearly modeled after Vampira. Apparently the rest of the ad humorously implied something about cheap plywood material for coffin making. Only $495.00 buy it now on eBay, it's much too rich for my blood, unfortunately, but for those interested just CLICK HERE! And at the end of the post, another metal printing plate for a 50's spook show ad that someone posted in a facebook group I follow. The blank spaces are to fill in the movies or whatever else was planned for the evening's eerie entertainment line-up. I also did the logical thing with these, re-opened them in photoshop, flipped the images so they were no longer reversed, converted them into black and white (as they would have appeared in the print ads), and bingo-- now you know what the ads (sort of) looked like! Neat stuff.

Day of the Rabbit Bugs

So where does Easter stack up against Mr. Karswell's favorite holiday of Halloween, you ponder? Well, it's got candy, it's got a supernatural being returning from the dead, and it's got people dressing up in old fashioned, totally cute bunny costumes. Seriously what could be better? Well, Halloween, of course, but here's a few Collegeville classics from the ever expanding Karswell Kollection to remind us all that the superior holiday is actually only 210 days away --and only 26 until Walpurgisnacht!

Booby Traps

It's April 1st, and that means April Fool's Day, of course! And what better way to prank your partners, co-workers, enemies, etc., than with miniature explosives! This box of 12 unused, vintage "booby" traps (made in Japan) fell into my possession a few weeks back, and I saved them specifically for today's extra special occasion! Just tie the string ends to closed doors, toilet seats, cabinets, or what have you, --then sit back and watch them work their crackin', heart attackin' magic on the unsuspected! "Who's the booby now?" you roar, as they fall right into your perfectly harmless, though totally traumatizing trap! Even Charlie Chan won't know what hit him!
