Teena

Let's keep the cute girl posts going for a little bit longer, and today it's a half dozen pages of some of the cutest ever, from the fun August 1948 issue of Teena #3 (aka A-1 #15.) Hilda Terry's art is full of wonderfully loose, curvy lines, sweet details, and combined with the funny writing and hilarious era dialog, Teena is seriously one of the true comic book gems of the late 40's.

These are really funny, and the dialog really zings. "Hmph--The moos all shooed..." I think the last one shoulda ended with both girls heading for the waffle house, but maybe that's just me.

I love teen comics from the forties. Back when the whole idea of teens was totally brand new.

Haha yeah, that line is great. I have to admit, there are a few other stories in the issue where I barely understand what they're even talking about!

I so totally adore that cute panel in the second story where they come waltzing out in their new basketball outfits... and of course it never gets much better than the third story locker room panel!

The style is ... interesting. Super tall, but with rounded baby faces! My favorite part is the other basketball team, I love the collection of tough girls, each has a really unique look.
