Found this great old Mountain Dew can a few weeks ago. It contains the groovy lettering style I love and remember so well as a kid, but also contains the "ya-hooo!" catch phrase hold-over from the earlier product and advertising designs that incorporated the cartoon hillbilly. Not 100% certain on the date, but judging from the pull top, I'd say 70's. Has some rust and scratches, but I think it gives the 'ol can some character, don't you?

Oh Yeah. From back in the days of making chains out of the pull tabs. Memories. Thanks.
Since the can's liquid contents is measured in ounces instead of ounces and milliliters, I would guess it is from the 70's. Nice find.
It'll tickle yore innards!
Neat! Rust and scratches are the best! (and that's no joke)
I hope it has some of that awesome old can smell ;)

Aww hell, chains are nothing... my mom made a hat and a freakin vest outta tabs, haha. Ahhh, the 70's

thanks for that!

It tickled my wallet for $7.00!

Haha, boy oh boy do I ever have a huge stack of inappropriate replies to that comment, CPC... but I guess you probably already know that.
Thanks for the refreshing comments on my old can, everybody!
I might have one of those in my collection, from way back. I bought one of the '70s Mountain Dew bottles on eBay a few years ago. Ya know, the hillbilly scene. They all had names of the people who worked in the plant on them - mine's "Scott, Mark, Lisa".
What Mountain Dew has become is a travesty. Instead of happy, warm, friendly, and a little kitschy it's become eXtrEme, corporate, and full of dude. At least they've kept Throwback as a product. That's all I drink now. Same with Pepsi.
