Ima Slooth

Time to take a tremblin' trip down to the Shady Knoll Cemetery and see if we can help 'ol Ima catch a pair of kooky grave robbers-- or are they? This is a barely coherent, but none the less hilariously cornball caper with some really funny illustrations by Joe Beck, and originally from the October 1945 issue of Dynamic Comics #16. And those of you heading over here from THOIA might get an extra kick out of some of the names on the gravestones.

So whimsical! I agree that the lingo does what it can to stymie what is otherwise a pretty straightforward story. And honestly, this rhyming, alliterating, chickenfatting buffoonery isn't really my jam. But for all that criticism, I had a lot of fun with this. It's really interesting to read a story in which the grave robbers are perceived to be taking bling from the corpses. In most of these things, the bling is the corpses.

Gotta say I'm really super into the Paul Gattuso cover for this ish too.

The humor reminded me of Basil Wolverton's humorous comics such as Powerhouse Pepper with the near non stop gags.
