Funny Company

Today we have a Tell-a-Tales book published in 1965 and based on the educationally hilarious animated adventures of the Funny Company (find out more about this great syndicated 60's kid's show HERE.) Fantastically illustrated by James Fletcher, this is one of the better Whitman books recently added to my collection-- and speaking of, if anyone wants to see more stuff like this just drop me a line! Rexall '65 (Advertising)

Back in February, I posted some advertising examples from the 1977 Rexall Family Almanac and Moon Book (click HERE for it); now today I have more from an earlier issue published in 1965. Whether you're hurting, dieting, going back to school, shopping for the holidays, or just want to look 'n smell your best, the local Rexall drug store definitely had the goods-- and these complimentary booklets are full of fun and very well designed 60's ad art and illustrations (apologies about the quality of the scans, this booklet has seriously seen better days.)

Talk of the Town Bowling Calendar '62

Osborne Kemper Thomas, Inc., Cincinnati OH, produced this funny bowling themed calendar in 1961 to be released the following year with the intention of making every month of 1962 a hilarious one for the bowler in your life. Nicely packaged in a tie sized, bright red flat box with a repeated "Talk of the Town" patten on both sides, each illustrated calendar page inside came spiral bound and could eventually be torn away and mailed to someone as a postcard as well (see back side scan at the bottom of the post.) Anyone know who the artist is here?

70's Fun Cakes and Cake Toppers!

If you're ever flipping through old 70's magazines and find some published by Wilton about cake decorating-- don't overlook them! They are seriously jam packed with amazing imagery of some of the grooviest and most delicious looking cakes ever created! Below are perfect samples from a 1973 Cake & Food Year Book, and a 1976 Cake Decorating issue showcasing just how imaginatively possible it is to get with your holiday desserts! I've rounded out the last half of the post with highlights of super cool and tiny cake topper figures to add even more awesome to your creations: astronauts, pirates, Go-Go Swingers, circus animals, cars, cowboys 'n indians, sports and holiday-- oh, you'll even see Bat Man strangely renamed "Cat Man" --and laugh out loud as our dingbat bride tries to stop her double agent nazi spy groom at the alter from heiling Hitler!
