Make it Spin

Cool booklet published in 1947 by the American Institute of Baking, featuring recipes as well as info on food groups, nutrition, good habits etc. The best part of course is the super illustration of the Balance Wheel itself, --for health, for vigor! Are you keeping it balanced, and making it spin?

The food pyramid's got nothing on this!

I don't really get the food wheel or the spinning part but it's neat looking!

I like all the illus except for that sideways glancing exercise kid. His sideways glance is creepy

I've been doing a lot of brush work recently, so the art on the back of the food wheel really engages me. I love the groovy fluid lines (especially in the creepy exercise slice), but I do think that all the white outlining has to go. Have some confidence, brusher! Also the extra bit of art--what the sleeping kid is dreaming, maybe?--with its violent spray of bruised Miike blood, is a little over the edge. These evil eyes think that it's obviously an omen, some prescience disguised as a dream perhaps, or some wish-fulfillment fantasy based on this poor kid's candy and kettle-cooked chip starvation?

Dang it, I've been forgetting to walk around with a book on my head. No wonder my wheels aren't spinning properly!
