Curiosity Kills / Assignment in Fear

Concluding our look into the terrific two-issue series of Archies style teenage terrors, from the September 1972 issue of Chilling Adventures in Sorcery as Told By Sabrina #1DeCarlo and Goldberg seriously had a good thing going here with this expertly illustrated / written series (see our last post as well for issue #2 in its entirety), and it's a shame it ended so soon-- though Sabrina of course continued on well into the 80's with her own fun 'n frisky witch comics! And don't forget to check out the other two stories from this issue by clicking HERE after you've read these two-- hope you've enjoyed this look into a somewhat spookier side of And Everything Else Too!

Man these are just terrific. I can't believe how casually well written they are. Lots of horror comics are written using the conceit that they are being narrated by a host, but these do such a competent job of staying in Sabrina's voice that it kind of rises above the gimmick and really informs the whole experience of reading them. Well, the patented Archie art style probably has a little to do with that as well.

Anyway, I'm heartbroken that there aren't any more of these to read. I might have to actually check out a regular issue of Sabrina the Teenage Witch now, just to see if the talent is equally evident there.

I'll dig out some more Sabrina comics for future AEET posts, glad you're enjoying this stuff-- I grew up on the Archie's and love it too!
