From Bed to Nurse, or What a Way to Die

Humorous Syd Hoff gags from the wonderful Dell first edition collection From Bed to Nurse, or What a Way to Die (1963.) Hoff's unmistakable art style graced the pages of many a New Yorker and Esquire magazine, as well as countless popular children's books like Danny the Dinosaur, Sammy the Seal etc... here we see his slightly risqué side concerning the field of nursing, but he also takes hilarious aim at the doctors and patients as well! Enjoy!

I understand the time, I understand that they are jokes and not to be taken literally, but this looks like a manual on how to paw nurses and make their lives annoying :)

While the entire book is indeed chock full of yuks, the nurse pawing jokes only make up about half of it.

Wonderful collection. Love Syd Hoff. So he went from sex jokes to kids' books (Danny and the Dinosaur...a reverse career path.

Seems like he did it all at the same time, which really says a lot about his freedom as a cartoonist, both commercially and naughtily!
