A funny old hillbilly themed shotgun weddin' post card I saw matted and framed up for sale at an antique mall recently. I didn't buy it because it was a tad bit overpriced, but I took a pic of it none the less! Can't beat a good 'ol Daisy May lookin' Ozark mountain lass, haha...

The Record of Doom

Some songs are like instant time capsules, sending you back to a certain place, full of great memories, and sometimes even not-so-great ones too. Yep, some songs are like a bullet through the heart, take for example this dirty little ditty from the April - May 1956 issue of Tales of the Unexpected #2. It's not freedom rock, maaaan-- but turn it up anyway!

Howlin' -- Err, Squeakin' Wolf

Or maybe he's just a cool coyote, --whatever he is, this neat little rubber squeak toy I found yesterday is definitely a keeper. I've had a bit of good luck selling vintage squeakers like this online, but I don't know if I could part with the stylized uniqueness of this furry fella letting loose at the moon. Couldn't dig up a single thing about it after googlin' either, so if anyone has any relevant information, I'd appreciate hearing allllll about it! Ahhh-Oooo!

A Day in Fairyland

Lushly detailed with incredibly cute fairy and elf illustrations by Ana Mae Seagren, "A Day in Fairyland" is a fantastic, oversized (18'' x 14'') child's book written by Sigrid Rahmas and is about the preparation and celebration of a Fairy Queen's birthday. First published in the 1940's, (and this may sound cliched but I have to say it anyway), --they certainly do not make 'em like this anymore!

A Birthday Bar Book (for Robb)

My childhood friend, Robb, turned 50 recently, reminding me of the good times we shared as kids growing up together in Oakville, MO in the 70's and early 80's. Seems like only yesterday (*queue the song) we were out riding bikes, skateboarding, swimming, playing Activision games, shooting hoops in his driveway, endlessly talking about KISS, not to mention the countless hours throwing around the old waterlogged Nerf football-- and don't get me started on the extended hours of Free Free Bumblebee we played long after the sun had gone down (while our parents got bombed in the backyard.) These are some of my most cherished memories from the old neighborhood, and though it's been a few years since I've seen Robb, we still keep in touch via email, because we clearly miss each other like good friends should. Okay, I'm not sure if Robb even drinks alcohol, but his half century of life milestone reminded me of this great 60's greeting card I picked up a few weeks ago, combining fun illustrations with colorful photography for a birthday card / recipe guide, like no other. So hey Robb, if you do drink, raise a glass-- and here's to you reaching the big 5-0! And if you don't drink, I hope you find some Bub's Daddy Chewing Gum instead, as well as a couple rolls of prism sticker tape to decorate your skateboard with :) HAPPY BIRTHDAY, chum!

Wendy the Good Little Witch Costume + Hot Wheels Mask

I landed a couple more incredible vintage Halloween items over the weekend, a truly wonderful-- and complete-- Wendy the Good Little Witch for starters! One of Collegeville's most popular Harvey character costumes, alongside Casper of course, Wendy was first introduced to trick 'r treaters back in the 60's and stayed in flame retarded production for many decades to come. Super condition too, and seriously, how great is that box lid art? I also found a loose Collegeville Hot Wheels's mask from 1971 (scroll down to the very end of the post), unfortunately it's missing the frockin' smock and box, so if anyone reading this has either please let me know! Yes sir, 91 days until Halloween --and counting!
