The subject of Avon came up quite a few times last week at work, so of course yesterday while out antiquing down in Farmington, I stumble upon this perfectly adorable little Avon beauty and grooming booklet from 1967. Loaded with helpful tips, (not like some of you reading this post even need it!), as well as some seriously cute illustrations, the whole thing just shines with great design and ideas. Heck, even the vendor's booth at the antique mall was set up exquisitely!
It's now time to know your best assets:

Aww, with flowers on nearly every page. I like the one on the Beauty Assets section, the one getting toe plucked. Foot dexterity is definitely an asset. But my favorite piece of art is probably the bathtub scene on the next page. Dear ladies, wallpaper your bathroom with this very catalog!
I am also totally interested in that box for Teen Time Dolls. That's a beaut.
The paper doll set was just a wee bit out of my price range, unfortunately. I did buy one other thing in that photo though. Can you guess what it was?
Well, I can't imagine it was my grandmother's hairspray. So I guess the glass ashtray?
Ooooo so wrong…
You got me! My grandmother used Aqua Net.
The topaz pot?
Man I love the little body part illustrations so much! And the teeny flowers! And the bubble bath! This is so cool. It seriously sent me back to my childhood when I would get Avon stuff as gifts and go through my cool grandmas makeup that literally took up her whole bathroom counter and all the drawers

I was pretty sure that if you were gonna comment on anything at all about this post, it’d be the body part illustrations!
One thing I like about these kind of books is the people producing them never think about consistency of art. All the art is great -- but a lot of it is obviously produced by different artists, with different styles.
From the pastels (I think, I'm not an expert on these things) of the front, to the more ink based inside, the more defined like "If you wear bangs" or the looser stuff on the next page.
It gives everything this kind of frenzied look.
I'll also guess the topaz pot.
The art reminds me of the 60's/70's British Girl magazines i have seen online.
Nice artwork done by unacknowledged artists.
Thanks as always for sharing.
Three strikes— yer all OUT!
It literally cannot be overstated what an AMAZING find this is, and how much it makes total sense that you would be the one to suss it out! I love everything about this booklet, from the title to the adorable art (that foot holding a flower! the tub scene!) to the punnily named tangential sections like “Grooming for Rooming.” This book is just perfection in my book!! Exquisite sleuth work as always, Mr. K!

Reminds me of someone once sleuthin' for a boothin', or a guy who is most definitely ready for some bready! ;)
Agree, totally see the Brit style too... and if anyone needs a spellbinding example of what we're talking about, go here:
