Budget Balancer

Anyone out there having a swell time balancin' the 'ol budget lately? Good grief, who in 2025 thought things would actually be the total opposite of "great again?!" Anyway, for those in need of assistance, this midcentury Budget Balancer metal box might help ya sort through your troubles during the holidays. Perfect for storing receipts, recipes, and even your weed, and if anything else, you can always gaze upon the wonderful kitsch mastery of Stylecraft of Baltimore color combos and illustrations adoring all sides of the box-- thus, dreaming about days gone by that actually were great, or in the very least, somewhat closer to what that concept was supposed to be all about, or whatever...

I love the colors on this, still relatively bright after so long a time.

Along the sides is a parade of everyone a typical household would owe payments to during the month, butcher, newspaper boy, milkman, dry cleaner, carpenter, grocery delivery boy- then and now you wonder where the money all went, especially during Christmas.

Neat find, thanks for the post.

I wanted to balance my budget, but I spent all my money on the budget balance box!

I think my favorite bit is the orange-haired woman mutated into a scale. I love the smug look, the halo, and how she's pointing at the giant pile of quarters and dimes, certainly a huge haul!

I think my favorite bit is the butcher with a big hunk of headless fish and an orange tabby prowling around his ankles for some

Also, give it up for those polkadot pants on the milkman!

I too love that cat. And the fishmonger's pencil is also a great touch. But my favorite element is the rugged leather satchel carried by that intrepid detective. I guess I'm in the market for one of those myself, and hers is aces. Two buckles! So safe. I love the idea that your cash box should be decorated with the small business proprietors of Main Street USA, and I appreciate the inclusion of a plucky detective agency. Whenever you need something investigated, it's important to have so case set aside. Especially back then. Gotta love the mid-century! They thought of everything.
