Some of you already know how much I love old sunglass counter displays (see HERE and HERE for other post examples), and I found another great one yesterday. This time it's for RAYEX Sunglasses, (1965) based out of NY, and similar to my Ventura display, is likely unused, as many of the little cardboard punch tabs to insert the sunglasses in are still firmly in place-- not to mention that the back flap for the stand isn't punched out either. I believe that gorgeous face staring back at us may be super swingin' English model and actress, Jean Shrimpton... someone please correct me if I'm wrong though.

I wonder why this display was never used, perhaps the storekeeper received two displays instead of one, this was set aside in the storeroom and then forgotten about.
The picture of the model is quite nice, she has the 1960's glamor look. Maybe the picture of this model graced a fashion magazine, if not the cover than the pages within.
If this were placed in a shadow box or frame (minus the plastic parts) it would be Avant-garde art of the late sixties-early seventies.
Thanks for posting this everyday art from decades ago, overlooked then but looked over and appreciated now.
The two right below her nostrils might be the poorest placement for a punch out I've seen in a while!
That's a great image, it really feels like it's gazing right through you.
