From the same local 1950's STL newspaper as the ads in our last post, here's an exciting little notice (blown up 400x) announcing an adults only Burlesque Frolics show in St. Charles MO. With the keen help from my co-hort in cutie pie film loops (click HERE to see Charmette in jaw dropping, bump 'n grind action) she was also able to track down pix of Joy Davis and Brandy Jones, as listed in the ad. Unfortunately, Rusty Amber remains MIA. I'm also assuming that "Open at 10:30" means AM... I can't imagine all that sensational stripperama going down in only 30 minutes every night!

Whoa, St. Luis was really happening, man. Wonder why it seems like old timey men's clubs seem so much classier than the tawdry "exotic dance" establishments of today. Or do they. Alls I know is, if I ever open a burley-q joint, I'll want it to seem refreshingly dated.
Ha! St. Louis, I mean. With an O. That's some kind of side effect from so much daily Spanish!
Thanks for the video link to the striptease, Karswell.
The film short showed how stripping, or rather the burlesque version of striptease, could be high class, not rude and crude. I am guessing that back then there were high class establishments like Burlesque Frolics and sleazy dives that gave stripping a bad name.
As always, thanks for these great posts!
"Open 10:30 Con't. 'Till 11 P.M."
Either that was one intense half hour, or burlesquers put in twelve hour days.
Who went to a 10:30 a.m. show?
-- "Mad Men" types playing hooky?
-- Field trips from very questionable schools?
-- Curious housewives?
Neat!
Great posts!
