The Mad Monsters in "Castle Hassle"

It's time to check in with The Mad Monsters and see how things are shakin' courtesy of Mad House Comics #126. (FYI: Since I was out of the country for a huge chunk of October, I'll be continuing into November with some more horror related posts that I had planned but never got around to, unless anyone objects! As usual, it'll be a mix of everything else too that you've come to love about this blog :) Have a fun and frightful Halloween tonight-- stay safe!

Happy Hallowe'en to you, too!

Usually any adult female in Archie comics look like Betty or Veronica, but this one looked like Ginger from Gilligan's Island.

I wonder what kind of rip-off those rainbow transfers were.

Thanks for the posts.

Thanks! Hope everyone had a great Halloween! Lots more stuff coming up now that I got some projects and vacation out of the way-- thanks for hanging in there!

oh man those rainbow glitter transfers are great! i'd take Nice & Nasty or Gong Show Reject - but Sweet Honesty - boo! that sounds like a pre teen perfume.

For unknown reasons, I think I'm gonna go with THE KID tee

All thee years later, it's the KISS tee I want the most. Something about wearing super seventies, off-model, poseur teen clothing is way cooler to me than some generic slogan. I would also love to see the Hot Wheels logo, or maybe TILT written in that disco pinball font.

I was going to point out that awesome panel at the top of page two where Frankie looks just like Dino, but then at the end they made a Rat Pack reference and I realized they were all supposed to. I dig the art here--if not for the iffy comics character spoofs (but that's an excellent Freak Brother!), then totally because the backgrounds and incidentals. Dig those black cloud and Swiss houses! Dig the panel compositions! This is without a doubt the kind of thing that Beto Hernandez grew up emulating. If the last two panels of page three were included in a Love and Rockets Color Special, I'd never know it wasn't him.

Haha, nice observation indeed, Mr C!

I think I might print up some new Horrors of it All tees in that off model rainbow glitter style, I'll keep you informed!

Man, that would be awesome! I think you should use the font from the Close Encounters poster. I'd buy one in a damn heartbeat. Extra rainbow glitter on mine, please.
