A Sackload of Santa (Part One)

We're showcasing vintage xmas card art from the 50's and 60's this month with the first in a two-part post featuring our favourite jolly old theme himself-- Santa Claus! I love the variety of styles and depictions of St. Nick presented here from this time era: the swinger, the skater, the dwarf, the juggler, the glasses wearing direction seeker, etc. Part Two is coming up later this week, and if you missed our vintage snowman card art post from last week please be sure to check it out HERE!

These are so great. The "from the two of us" image almost looks like a Chuck Jones illustration. that's probably my fave, but the "loaded down" Santa and the one ice skating are tied for pretty close second.

These are lush and gorgeous. These really bespeak Christmas to me.

Thanks, Kars.

Great scans! My late grandmother claimed to have saved every Christmas card she ever got. I saw her collection one and she had some similar gems.

Most of these cards were purchased by me at antique malls and on ebay... very few of these were actually sent or mailed to me by friends or family (though the next post will include one I received in the early 90's from the band SOUNDGARDEN!) It's all coming up!
