Black Demon

No, you haven't accidentally landed on THOIA today-- this demon means you no harm! And in fact, it's actually here to help you! Where ever you are, whatever you're doing, sometimes emergency light is needed. Enter-- The Black Demon! Whether camping, broke down on the side of the road, --or just adding some flare to the five points of your ritualistically inverted floor pentagram (hey, why not?), this re-usable, very vintage, 1940's safety light burns through rain, snow, and very strong winds, and it also has a wonderfully illustrated box that is probably even hotter / cooler than the actual product itself. All hail the Black Demon*to the tune of Black Diamond by KISS.

I was with them until "kills bugs" that seems like a bit of an oversale. I mean, if they landed on the flame, sure, and maybe the smoke scares them but it's not one of those great bug zapper lights from my childhood. I can still hear, and smell them now!

The art is a bit primitive but I like it, it's distinct, gets the point across, and the stark B&W packaging is all very cool.

How do you know this wouldn’t kill a bug? Just look at that last picture the bottom— stuff looks toxic AF!

I imagine it contains tar to give it that black look. Now, if it contained sulfur/brimstone, maybe a demon would appear once it was lit- that would be handy, a demonic auto mechanic to fix a flat or repair an engine, sort of AAA from down below.

A black torch summoning a demon to do auto repair, there is probably a pre- or post code story in that idea.

Or in the very least, a great Rocky Horror Picture Show song! :)

“Well, you got caught with a flat, well, how about that?
Well, babies, don't you panic
By the light of the night, it'll all seem alright,
I'll get you a satanic mechanic…”

This is great. I really like the very suggestive instruction illustrations. I think the box art here would so so rad stuck to the condom machine in the last post.
