Aurora Model Kit Dracula Presents: The Halloween Scene That'll Scare You to Death!

I'm sort of getting the feeling that some of you are slipping behind with these last few Halloween posts. So to make things more pleasant around here for everyone, I've decided to, of course, make this last post of October 2021 the biggest 'n trickiest one yet! Werewolves, vampires, and even a trip through an amazin' haunted house! You seriously can't beat the the enormity of this project when it also includes the King of Vampires himself-- Dracula! (in all of his built-up, pre-painted, original Aurora model kit massiveness.) And just to fill ya in, I will have a few more of my Aurora's for you later next month as well, so don't fret about that theme coming to an end. Okay, since Brian likes 70's DC horror so much, let's check in on a holiday classic from the June - July 1974 issue of House of Mystery #225, which tells not only a few valuable lessons about things, but also shows you there's more than one way to spell "Halloween!" But first up, lets get ourselves locked inside a department store of doom and see what terrific terror transpires, from the September 1976 issue of Scary Tales #7. "Halloween-- it's a Scream!"

And we're screamin' along in the final weekend of Halloween 2021 posts, with a blast of costume party fun from the January 1970 issue of Swing with Scooter #24, plus a trio of madcap Malibu one-pagers from the same issue. I occasionally see single panels pulled from this issue and tumblr'd around out of context, but I don't believe I've ever seen anyone post the full stories from this one-- so this is for the handful of you out there that have messaged me over the last few months asking about these panel origins. One more day to go until the big, final act!

Screech for the Creech!

Or scream, gurgle, gasp, swim for your life-- whatever it takes! Todays countdown to Halloween post is all about that infamously awesome gill-man from the blackest of lagoons-- The Creature! Absolutely my all time favorite 50's Universal monster, and he was also probably the very first one I was ever introduced to as a kid when flipping the channels on our tiny black and white tv set back in the early 70's-- stopping in a total mesmerized state on this incredibly fascinating looking scaly thing swimming across my screen! Not only that milestone moment of my youth, but also my first Aurora monster model kit was also The Creature from the Black Lagoon, painted by my Uncle and gifted to me when I was just a wee 5 or 6 years old. The pix below are not the one he made for me, but instead another recently acquired, fully built-up and painted version from my buddy Greg --though not painted by him either, but by the same person apparently who painted The Mummy (CLICK HERE if you missed it!) FYI I photographed him on the same day, and on the same beach, as The Mummy, for those of you with a keen eye for backgrounds! And of course, it wouldn't be an AEET Halloween 2021 post without a couple of vintage horror comics to accompany the monstery model kit madness, featuring a typically whacktacular Iger Shop love story from the November 1953 issue of Journey into Fear #16, about a fishy Creech queen and her peculiarly nasty need of a lonely lighthouse attendant! But first up, and a nifty little 2-page illustrated Creech bio from the August 1973 issue of Skywald's Nightmare #16.
