Real clever, these advertisers! Yes, it's time for more fun ads with adorable illustrations from an old 50's issue of Family Circle magazine-- I particularly love the sad sack stove and the guy excitedly stuffing his big 'ol mouth with meat loaf.

Space Party for Boys
Girls are invited too! It's another fun party idea from an old 50's issue of Family Circle magazine, and this time we're shooting for the stars and out into the final frontier! Yes, we're boldly going where no boy (or girl) has partied before!
And say now, why do only kids get to have all the space fun? Reverse the anti-gravity-panties, prepare to launch rockets-- thrust! Black holes in T minus 4... 3... 2... 1...
Space Party for everyone!!

Do You Know How to Visit the Sick?
Fun overview illustration accompanying a DON'T DO article featured in a 1950's Family Circle magazine. Are you guilty of these hospital visitation no-nos? I particularly love the kid playing cowboy with his sister in room #2, and Jayne Mansfield visiting her poor friend who has yet to acquire a room and is currently stuck out in the not so private hallway. The artist name is in the art but it's hard to read. Got a bunch of great ads from this mag coming up next!

Sir Reginald Play-N-Save Bank
Like the great hunter I am (for fun stuff ONLY) todays tremendous treasure find is the wonderfully cute 'n violent, Sir Reginald Play-n-Save Bank-- and lordy be it's plastic, though mechanical, and unlike one I found a few years ago, it works great too! Just load a coin on top of the shotgun, pull the green trigger (located on the hunter's stomach) and fire your hard earned change right down that mean 'ol lion's throat! Made by the Mascon Toy Company in Lorain, OH; there seems to be varying opinions online as to whether it's from the 50's or 60's. Does anyone know for sure?
*Also, no lions were harmed in the making of this blog post!

Courting Carriage
I don't collect perfume bottles, but I have been known to buy something with cute packaging art, and this Avon Courting Carriage from 1973 is a perfect example of just that. The bottle is certainly pretty enough in design with its clear glass mold and golden cap, but just look at that painted wraparound artwork of the shy young couple in the early stages of carriage courtship-- awww!!! It's making me blush just thinking about the bumpy carriage ride of life that lies just around the bend for them.

Yes, whether you're flying kites, doing the Charleston, welding, striking out with the girls, discarding a baby in the woods, or being just plain kookaburra, you know that getting your daily vitamins is always of the utmost importance!
