A huge find for me recently (aside from a complete Playboy Playmate can puzzle from 1967 for $10, and an original Hardy Boys metal lunchbox without a single dink or rust spot for the same price), were these 5 Hallmark Contemporary "cards" from the 60's featuring outstanding Coker hobo artwork with funny little, timely quotes about automation, beats, happiness, and giving. I say "cards" because they're not greeting cards, but instead tall, glossy standees, with an easel style flap on the back that you pull out and fold down, so that these dirty little bums can really stand on their own while cracking you up with their hysterical expressions and fashion sense!

Horror House - Real Ad!
Forgot exactly where I found this terrific, two-page Horror House ad, (as I've just had both brittle pages torn from a magazine for many many moons now in a folder), and alas, we're well beyond our years and ability to actually order anything from them anyway-- though I really could use more shrunken heads and bugs in ice cubes as I'm so very low in stock around Karswell Kastle at the moment! I could always use a complete set of those "horrible to behold" rubber masks as well!

The St. Valentine's Day Massacre
That agonizing pang you feel in your heart today isn't the result of love overload, or lack thereof. It's from the shot of hot lead from a smoking tommy gun fired repeatedly into your aching chest! Yep, today at AEET we ditch the usual kitschy cuteness of previous years and deliver the historic, true story of gangland Chicago's most notorious slaughterama-- The St. Valentine's Day Massacre! From the June 1948 issue of A-1 Comics #13: Guns of Fact and Fiction, --and FYI: this is a SOTI issue as well-- even the western story is full of bloody, bullet riddled bodies!

Speed Racer Rice Bowl
I felt like I needed a revv'd-up rice bowl to go with my awesome Astroboy Boy miso bowl (see HERE), and lo and behold what should I find, but this incredibly cute Mach Go Go Go, aka Speed Racer rice bowl from the 60's. Illustrated on both sides (though Trixie's hair is as much off model as the lip color registration), and adorned with the iconic Tatsunoko seahorse sticker, I may not ever actually eat any rice out of it, but it sure looks great on my collector shelf!

Donkey Kong Overload!
Some of you already know that I collect Donkey Kong related stuff (click HERE for my awesome coin bank), and today I scored an overload of great items: a board game, a puzzle, a stuffed DK, and a complete sticker / scratcher card set. Some of these I didn't even know existed until today:
PLUS: the original "Do the Donkey Kong" 45 single by Buckner and Garcia:

I'm Scared...
Scared you won't be my Valentine! Good lord, is it really February already? Anyway, I found this cute vintage Valentine at an antique mall yesterday, and I don't know about you, but I always get a kick out of the idea that someone's hair would stand on end after getting a good frightful spookin' to, haha. This card is made even better by the fact that they used hairy scary red flock over the main word. Are you ready for more sappy sentiment throughout this entire month? Hang tight...
