Good Housekeeping's Ten P.M. Cook Book (1958) is a typically fun little booklet from this great line of softcover cook books published by The Hearst Corp; all of them are full of eye poppingly cute artwork (this time by the terrific Tye Gibson) and killer hand lettering, and of course the gloriously delicious concoctions: holiday fare, treats on a tray, pick me ups, dips, dunks, spreads, ready mades, and hot treats etc. We'll have highlights from the second half of this book in our next post-- right now, I gotta get ready to eat some food myself!
Hope ya'll have a super Thanksgiving today!

House of a Thousand Mysteries
I almost forgot about Mini-Mondays here in November at AEET! And like my post from a few weeks ago, here's another assortment of silver age comic book mail order gag gift ads blown up 600% so you can see the wonderful old time art and print textures (and flaws) in full detail. I may do another similar weekly theme in December, so if anyone has any clever or kooky ideas let me know! These great ads come from The House of a Thousand Mysteries based out of Ft. Lauderdale, FL (full address details in the very last scan at the bottom.)

Hey! This Thanksgiving Make the Kids Cook!
The Gas Cook Book for Young People by Laclede Gas is a fun little booklet from 1958 loaded with simple food ideas that you, the lazy parent, can now have the kids concoct instead (as you lay on the couch watching entire TV show seasons on Netflix --I'm catching up on The Killing Season 3 while Zander whips me up some delicious Breakfast Muffins - see page 8!) Some of these might come in handy on Turkey day too this Thursday-- so come on, quit stressing about the holidays and put your offspring to work! Art lovers enjoy Pres Bagent's oddly cute illo style.

Sunfrost Therm-O-Ware
A casual, crafty remark on a post earlier this month has launched AEET into a new ongoing weekly feature we now call MINI-MONDAY. Basically this is when I take something totally teeny weeny from my collection and blow it up BIG; extra enlarged scans so you can really see the fun detail! So far this month we saw a silly mummy comic, as well as some old black and white comic book ads (check the archive if you missed 'em), now today I have a sensational Sunfrost Therm-O-Ware booklet from either the 50's or 60's. The booklet is very small and features an abundance of great design, color, typography, and oh those wonderful illustrations-- thus, making it a no-brainer for the super scan treatment! And as much as the booklet itself, I LOVE this Sunfrost Therm-O-Ware stuff, it really takes me back to my childhood, as most things presented here at AEET tend to do! The style, the textures, and even the way drinks tasted in the cups-- I think it's time to make another trip over to ebay ;)
