We're nearing the final hours of the Magical Misery Tour that is 2019 --I mean seriously, has there been a worse year in my lifetime? It's hard to say, but it looks like we do finally have a winner here. Yep, I kicked off the year with an awesome injury that not only cost me my day job, but it seriously set me back on a number of travel plans and projects that I'm only just now finally getting caught up on in the upcoming, hopeful light of 2020. So heres to a better year for everyone, good times, good health, and good fucking riddance bye-bye 2019. And thanks to the October 1971 issue of National Lampoon Magazine Vol. 1 #19 for this funny Beatles parody too!
So Hello, Goodbye --and see you all in the new Roaring 20's!

TV Schedule Family Fun Booklet 1974 (PART TWO)
It's time for PART TWO of the Ward's TV Family Fun Booklet '74, and before we get into the highlights of this week's TV movie programming, let us first delve into a bit of meditation and some sparks of wisdom. We've also got some bird feeding tips and two fun games. Okay? Okay! All done. Can you beat 2 nights of Frankenstein: the True Story starring James Mason and Agnes Moorehead? I remember watching it like it was yesterday, though it may have been on the premiere airing the year before. But also-- The Monkees in HEAD! Night Gallery and Outer Limits! The Maltese Bippy! Bunny Lake is Missing! GOG vs. Goliath vs. the Vampires!!! I've barely even scratched the surface of tv shows and cartoons-- ahhhhh!!! I guess I'll leave those up to you guys, so please share with us what you'll be watching this week as we time travel back to the mid 70's, (see also staying home Dec 31st cuz who cares about New Year's Eve anyway...)

TV Schedule Family Fun Booklet 1974 (PART ONE)
Found this neat little TV guide booklet / supplement in a pile of old 70's magazines and newspapers recently. It appears to have been a giveaway to customers that shopped at Ward's Super Markets here in MO. It's full of funny little key art ads, articles, recipes, stories, and even crappy religious advice from somebody named Penelope. But of course the best part is all of that glorious 1974 television programming! Movies and tv shows, and lots of local fare that, even with a limited, minimal amount of channels, really made pre-cable tv days set surfin' something special.
Let's take a look at some stuff to watch, starting with this exact day in 1974 for example, December 28th: like how did we ever choose between Land of the Lost and Valley of the Dinosaurs both on at the same exact time on different channels back in those days? I barely remember. And the entire afternoon of movies on this one day alone is enough to boggle the mind into oblivion: Abbott and Costello, the Bowery Boys, King Kong Escapes, The Vikings, and The Cat People! Evening time is just as jam packed with goodness as Adam West stars on Emergency, plus City of Fear and then heading into the witching hour we still have The Mad Ghoul on our Tales of Terror horror host show!
Lordy be, how can you beat Sunday morning with a big block of Davey and Goliath, Underdog, Goober and the Ghost Chasers, followed by an afternoon / evening split with Charlie Chan and Tarzan, plus, Land of the Giants, Peter Gunn, and more! Let's take a look at what's on the rest of the week in our next post too by CLICKING HERE!

A Weebles Christmas Ghost Story
Here's something I haven't done at AEET in a while-- an original story! I took these photos of my Weebles Haunted House and wrote this kooky spooky little kid's tale back in October. I was going to post it on Halloween, but then became too busy with other stuff and missed my window, (though a photo or two did wind up on Instagram.) Anyway, now I present it to you as:

Greetings from the World Trade Center, NYC
Speaking of cards, I found this postcard at an antique mall a few weeks ago, the back is postmarked 1976 which was the same year (on this very day in fact) as the Dino De Laurentiis KING KONG remake release that featured everyone's favorite giant gorilla climbing to the top of the WTCs, instead of the Empire State Building. This is clearly NOT a scene from that movie.

Hydra-Matic
Here's a funny little mid century booklet to help auto mechanics keep up with the ever changin' times of cutting edge transmission repair and tools. It's still all Greek to me as I know absolutely nothing about cars or tools, but I do know that I love those great key art illustrations. Yep! If old Chadwick can do it-- so can you! And me! I think.
