Sometimes the truth is more freaky than fiction, as we see in this frighteningly fun "true" 4-pager from the January 1944 issue of Crime Does Not Pay #31. Plus, artwork by the always dynamic, Dick Briefer! We'll see another bit of heady horror from him in our next post as well-- stay tombed!

The cartoon-ish art from Briefer vs the pretty sick story is really interesting. It's like a Jack Davis story turned up to 11!
Quick google search couldn't turn up any information on this crime, though, but I'm sure one of your other readers will know what the story is based on (if true, that is, in crime comics "a true story" can sometimes be ... well, not exactly true!)
So did Count de Braganza die of poison or only from having his head removed?
That's why you should get cremated instead of buried, ladies and gentlemen!
My google search didn't turn up anything either... where are my experts??!! lol
Thanks for the comments :)
This is super. Briefer is always on his A game, and it's really neat to see work a little farther afield than the Frankenstein stuff. I wonder if he colored this too? Because that is also pretty super.
