Hm. I wasn't aware of the seemingly out-of-date phrase "double your fists" for "making a fist". Seems like it makes use of the definition of "double-up" that indicates that something has been folded, like when someone doubles-over. I'm still skeptical about that, though. In that were true, it seems like "making a fist" would be "doubling a hand." Anyway, that's the one bum note in an otherwise pretty great group of riddles. Well, that one and the smoke one.
My favorite illustration, since I can't choose all of them, is the one for the card trick.
Actually remember reading "The Secret Word" as a kid and figuring even younger siblings would figure it out pretty quickly. What I really liked about "Children's Digest" were pages that you cut up to make things and occasional articles in comic form (particularly one about old-time magic that revealed how to create bodyless heads with mirrors. Now THAT was a neat trick!).

Oh man! The tricks are pretty silly but the images are so cute! I love that little kitty!! And the lady at the perfume counter!
and now we all know how to draw a cute kitten-- just start with a lower case m! :)
