We'll take a lil break from the Halloween horrors and visit a Tinkle Time Tale from Dell Publishing Co. I'm not 100% sure when this came out, but according to the back of the book it was printed in Holland and there were 12 titles in this series published in all (see the last scan below.) I'll have another one for you closer to xmas. I sure do love the adorably funny art in these books, man oh man, do I ever...

wow! that really is insanely cool! i love the chickens in the last page. and the scene where the duckling is filling the sack with rocks. but man - the end paper is freaking amazing.
I know! The chimney sweep guy on the back makes me wish he had his own book too!
i bet he cleans the teeny chimney in that insanely cute teeny mushroom house!!
I hope that lil dog driving the car is his chimney sweep assistant too!
He might, right? I assume the brilliant inside covers are consistent over a whole series of books. Also it looks like they line up with one another on the inside edges, which makes me wonder what they line up with on the outside edges. I imagine a whole long scroll of that pattern, with non-repeating cartoon characters and colors.
Other than that, I most like the bottom corner of scan number nine. I sort of wish I dug the wolf design as much as I do the jaguar, but that image of their near fisticuffs really sends me.
Are jaguars green? I like to think that maybe he's just from some other planet called Jaguar.
The other book I have from this series has the same end paper illos
This is a lost art!
Nice we get a story where the Wolf doesn't get run out of town like usual (though it seems like he's now as slave to Joppa despite the story ending on stating they're the "best of friends".
Haha, good point, Chris!
Okay, I'm back from my vacation and ready to get back into Halloween mode-- and please NOTE: the next post is VERY ADULT so be prepared / warned / whatever you need as the content is very explicit in the sex and violence department as only Euro fumetti's can be! It's coming up next, whether you want it to or not...
Hi, I am absolutely sure that the uncredited artist is Ramón Sabatés, a very fine Spanish illustrator with a long career in comic books and storybooks (I have seen a lot of his work and I can recognize his style, so I'm absolutely sure this book was illustrated by him): http://www.lambiek.net/artists/s/sabates_ramon.htm
Thanks Alfons!
