Well, it isn't really, but we are officially halfway to Halloween 2024 though, and if you need a little night cap after our weird Walpurgisnacht festivities over at THOIA HERE, how about this mutha of a story from the March 1956 issue of Astonishing #47 (featuring art by eerie Ed Winiarski.) May is just around the corner, so as usual, stay tombed to both blogs for lots more...

This is honestly a very sweet story and the ending is adorable.
Yeah this is super charming. I've read this somewhere before, either maybe it's in a reprint I have, not sure. I have to say, the artist does a good job here -- there's not much to draw here but he really captures the emotion and it's got a really good layout and flow.
Poor Marvel Boy, I think he lasted like 2 issues before he got taken over by the ghouls and vampires, though this is Atlas after the CCA.
I love art like this. All bright pastels and clean lines. It feels unusual for horror. It's like the illustrations in Dick and Jane stories or something. Frankly, it always reminds of me of Henry Darger, but I guess that's because it's just exactly the kind of thing he was using as reference.
Anyhow, sweet tale for Walpurgis! Hope you're having a great feast day!
The line about going riding on Halloween kind of gave away the ending, but it was the trip, not the destination, that mattered.
I wonder if Emily was a cousin of Wendy the Good Witch.
I definitely agree about this one.
