Having just returned from my own incredibly exciting road trip, here we have some suggestions from a very cool 1950's Standard Oil booklet on how to have tons of fun on the road and make those long and windy miles just fly by! Games to play, like Ghost, or Beaver (!!!), tongue twisters, picnicking, camping, and sing-a-longs-- it's all here! And packed with cute illustrations too, this one's a definite pedal to the metal blast of high speed thrills!

This is all great stuff, and I really like the clip illustrations (the Sing Traveler Sing carpool especially), but what is a total revelation to me here is the cover (and second page, too), where what look like photographic and ink-washed elements have been harmoniously married by using halftone screens. What a brilliant idea! As always, love the spot color, too.
Welcome back, Karswell!
I agree! Best of all the fun mid century booklet style illustrations in this one-- I really want to put either the tongue twister kid or the hot dog family on a tee shirt 😄
oh my god that is so incredibly cute! every image of the people is the car is the best! i really love those kids!
yeah a t-shirt would be awesome - one of the whole family in the car :)
"Beaver!" appears to have been a thing.
In "The Talk of the Town" (1942), Ronald Colman is a bearded academic. When walking through town with Jean Arthur, she has to explain why teenagers say "Beaver!" and giggle as they walk by.
Doing it! 😊
Haha, I've seen that movie but it's been years
