Fables & Fabulous Yarns
Before we get back into the McCall's '61 catalog (next week) let's keep things on the super stylin' tip and jump forward to 1970 to see what the kids are/were wearing! Thanks to Columbia-Minerva knit fashions for boys and girls, Fables & Fabulous Yarns is everything you'd expect from a title as such, featuring wildly colorful, psychedelic backgrounds, cute (and not-so-cute) models, cute (and-not-so cute) clothing, insanely large stuffed animals, and even an occasionally inappropriate rhyme or two to ensure that everything feel extra swanky 70's. So let's hear it, which itchy styles are in need of a crocheted comeback?

oh my god!!! i was thinking as i was looking through here that i don't know who isn't cute - cause all the kids are pretty cute - and then i got to the smirking kid! thanks for blowing him the hell up so that we all can remember to never ever smile like that. ever.
super fab!!! its hard to decide if i like the backgrounds or the awesome stuffed animals better. or perhaps the mini (some of them alarmingly mini) knit dresses, striped pants and fluffy yarn hair ties.

All the top fashions for Children of the Corn or kids from Village of the Damned - Hey, if you have to be a creepy and evil kid you might as well look cute and innocent, in that way people will let down their guard and not suspect a thing until its too late.
(With October so close it is hard not to get into the Halloween mood.)
Man, that escaped circus bear story was excellent, the last line before the moral unexpectedly hard-hitting and canny. Also: man they really liked big tall socks and stockings back then, didn't they? Aww, who am I kidding; I really like them right now. These photos are totally magic. I'da snapped this catalog up in a heartbeat, too. It's like Henry Darger got a job at Sears.
Totally amazed at the things I occasionally find at this local library bookstore. Paid a quarter for this but would've easily forked over $5 for it too
