The Disrespectful Summons by Edward Gorey

Edward Gorey needs no introduction, and his inclusion here during AEET's "Skipping September Fest" requires no further explaination either. From the Nov. 1971 "HORROR" issue of National Lampoon Magazine Vol. 1 No. 20 (we'll be looking at more from this issue in our next few posts too!) And wow, we finally broke 100 "followers" as well, --thanks to everyone!

Wowee! That is a dark tale for sure. I wonder what the moral is? Don't walk down the lane by yourself (if you are a woman) or else the devil will possess your soul (and later drop you in a burning pit) YIPES!

Yep, play with fire, you get the fire... quite a hot lil moral, Amber!

Okay, is everyone cool with the new way blogger displays the images after you click the thumbnail? I just want to say I did NOT set it to do this, I guess it's some new feature they just added... though if you want to see it displayed the regular way like it used to be, all you have to do is click the little white link in the field of black on the left hand side (after clicking the thumbnail.) Took me awhile to figure that out.

More from the NL HORROR issue coming up next!

This was also in the book 'Amphigorey Too' showcasing some of Edward Gorey's work, a mixture of drk and darkly humorous.

(With a name like Gorey what else would you expect him to draw?)
