Father's Day!
Sorry for the late Father's Day post, this weekend has been incredibly busy as one of us didn't exactly get the day off for the holiday even though I'm a father! Anyway, being said holiday you know what that means here at AEET-- samplings from my vintage greeting card collection! These are some of my faves, dating from the 1940's through the early 70's... and I have to admit, of the dads depicted on the cards I'm probably most like the hillbilly version at the bottom, or possibly the guy shooting marbles. (FYI: cards #2 and 3 both contain tiny jewels on the ties.)

I did a double take on the "On Sunday Morning" card- it looked like Hitler to me.

Yes it is, so is the nazi jumping out of bed. Card #7 has an actual kleenex inside as well.

Thanks Colleen... looking through my card collection I actually have alot of hillbilly themed cards from a variety of holidays. That might make a good post just to mix it up through the summer since there aren't really any major holiays coming up until Oct. 31st (I don't have a single card for the 4th of July-- do they even make them?)
My dad died last November, so I was glad when all the father's day advertising was over. It was starting to feel like I was being kicked in the chest. Besides the fact that of course they always overkill with advertising every holiday.
I don't know if I've ever seen a 4th of July card. I've certainly never received one.
Sorry to hear about your dad, I lost mine back in '73 and I know how it goes about never getting easier.
Gosh, you lost your dad young. That's really sad. I became a 45 year old half-orphan and that's hard enough. It would be so much harder for a little kid to deal with. My mom's health is okay though her kidneys aren't the greatest. I'm not really looking forward to becoming the Older Generation--not yet!
