We're celebrating Turkey Day today with some deliciously fun themed imagery from The Gas Holiday Cook Book booklet (1958 Milliken Publishing Company, illustrations by Pres Bagent and Paul Stoddard.) You gotta love that hobo sniffing the pie cooling on the windowsill, and the pig rubbing himself down with mustard as he totally can't wait to get in the oven! Plus, a few cute images from Carnation's "Desserts Plain & Fancy" pamphlet, 1953. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Beautiful stuff as usual, Karswell. That clip of the ghost chef manifesting itself out of the cookbook is pretty weird. But my clear fave is that colorful four rooms of Thanksgiving masterpiece. I wish I had some snowmen outside.
Happy holiday, man.
now we're cooking with gas! Happy T-day Karswell!
I agree, quality art on par with the best Little Golden Book classics. Looking through your posts I'm amazed at how much fun cook books used to be with this type of art. It's a shame they don't really do this anymore.
Where do you get this great stuff? Such an eccentric, glorious collection of graphic coolness seen here. Like you, I love the stuff that is everyday great, not often celebrated - the stuff that was never meant to anything but transitory and eye-catching. Same wavelength, brother. Keep it coming.
pretty!

He was from the header on the "Helpful Cooking Suggestions" page. Perhaps he's there to possess you with his supernatural powers of suggestion?
Thanks for the comments, and as Mykal suggested with his "Keep it coming" you know that is EXACTLY what I intend to do! Hope everyone had a great T-Day, more fun stuffin's coming right up!
