Ultra Man Coin Op Bank

All the way from The Jungle Store in Saitama, Japan, comes the latest edition to not only my Ultra Man toy collection, but also to my toy bank collection: it's the Ultra Man Coin Op kiddie ride bank! Just plunk some spare change in him, hop on (if you're two inches tall), and take the ultra ride of your life! SHHHUWATCH! Bandai did a great job on these-- they also make one of Kamen Rider too!

Some of you may remember that I actually rode an original full-sized vintage version of Ultra Man in Kobe, Japan last year-- but if you missed just CLICK HERE!

All-Time All-American Team

I freakin' hate competitive team sports, but this gorgeously illustrated article by Bob McCartney (cover too!) featured in the April 1957 issue of From Here to Insanity Vol.3 #1 is just way too cute and hysterical to pass on. Saucy seductive McCartney Girls passin' the 'ol pigskin around on the playin' field and living to shower about it another day-- why, I do believe that is MY kind of football! The faux ad at the very end is also quite a sexy hoot!

The Ghost of Snaggle Castle

As far as I can tell, these are the only two 1940's ghostbustin' adventures of Foreclose Holmes and Batsin Belfry, as written and illustrated by, uhhh, Slaba Eyce, haha. Both stories are only two pages long each, but they seriously contain enough spooky, silly fun and neato artwork to pack a full comic book. I would definitely love to see more, but after playing back-up filler to The Great Zarro, Madame Strange, and Guy Gorham in Great Comics #1 and #2, issue #3 eventually came along and dumped their flights of fright altogether.

Enjoy Your Fun Factory

Digging around in some old comics recently, I found this super cool Play-Doh Fun Factory booklet, dated 1960. Super cute artwork is the real highlight here, plus the booklet still smells like Play-Doh-- which is one of my all-time favorite aromas --and one whiff takes me right back to my childhood! I have to admit, I'm not at all familiar with Wood-Doh listed on the last page, or the fact that this stuff also came in metal canisters. Also, "Extruder Dies" should be a band name.

Lu Tsukasa Skin Kang Sake Cup

If you enjoyed my Astroboy miso bowl in the last post, how about this vintage Lu Tsukasa Skin Kang Sake Cup (hope I have that translation correct!), that I also found in Japan last year?

Wonderful art style, the collector ceramic cups were sold in the same box with the bottle of sake, and judging from this other one I found online recently (see image below), it seems there were quite a few different illustrated nudie girls to choose from! Love that lil cat too...

Tetsuwan Atom Miso Bowl

I bought this cute Tetsuwan Atom, (aka Astroboy), miso bowl in Osaka last year, and boy do I love it. Highlighted by artwork on all four sides of the bowl, including Astro's sister, Uran (and pet), the only thing I need to do now is find some worthy miso here in America to eat from out of it!

KING KONG by Frazetta

I recently found this first printing Ace paperback edition of KING KONG from '76 and was immediately blown away by the ever incredible Frank Frazetta cover art. As if that wasn't cool enough, Ace Books was even so kind as to include the painting a second time on the back cover, and minus all of the text! Yes, Fay Wray never looked Frazettier! So here are both sides scanned high resolution, the back cover unfortunately has quite a few scruffs and dings-- and I've yet to actually read this novelization, but when I do I'll add some additional notes to this post. Stay tuned!

Meet the Living Mermaids!

Whoa, I'm finally getting an AEET post going here in 2019, (sorry for the tardiness), and if you've been following THOIA for the last 4 posts HEREHERE, HERE, and HERE, then you're already aware of the Professor Broussard, aka The Werewolf Hunter stories that I've been sharing over thar. But this sexy tail (get it?) from under the sea is just too fun 'n weird to not share, though not nearly as horrific as the THOIA posts have been-- so I'm putting it here for all to sea! *wink! And if you need more info on the Prof, head over to the stories linked above for the de-tails! From the April '45 issue of Rangers Comics #22, and lovely art by the even lovelier Lily Renee, of course!

*NOTE: No fish were fried in the making of this post. Sushi ONLY!
