"I Hate Me!"

Funny four-pager from the Fall 1947 issue of Blonde Phantom #15, with cute artwork by the always great, Syd Shores. I'm betting those see-thru negligee panels on the last page probably popped a few schoolboy eyeballs back in the day. Meanwhile, Stan Lee effortlessly penned this kind of sensationally silly, sassy super heroine stuff with his eyes closed, haha...

A cute one. Never saw Shores' artwork before. It's a bit Eisner-esque. I dig it.

I love the way Stan always fiddles with the fourth wall (panel two page two), it really engages the reader! I also really love that page's overall aesthetic: The really underemployed magenta pass makes all the clothes seem so much more stylish.

"Four-Flusher" I mean, we've all had that problem!

Yeah Stan was pretty good at the gag strips. Not that this one needed good writing with the wall to wall good girl art. As Doc Briar said, there's a lot of Eisner in his style. The layout is kind of interesting, there's a lot of weird panels on page 2 but then it's pretty standard.

I can see some Eisner, but more likely this was capitalizing on the popularity of Bill Ward's Torchy at the time.

I'll post some more Blonde Phantom later in 2022 if anyone's interested, thanks for the comments
