Passion Meter

Here's something I photographed back in February, and then promptly forgot to post for Valentine's Day-- duhh! The Passion Meter! Yep, no matter what month we're in, it's always time to find out how you stand on the passion scale. We have a cute 70's illustrated couple on the box lid eyeing one another as if they already know how they're going to rate. Remove the lid and there they are again in a much more colorfully designed setting, which also now includes the "passion meter" itself! Who among you will find out the awful truth, or will it be good news? Are you frigid and corpeslike? Or are you coming on strong ZOWIE! Simply place your thumb on the meter bulb and see what heights (or depths) your passion takes you! Headshops, tourist traps, truck stops, and Spencer's backrooms everywhere were full of fun gag gifts like this back in the day, and I'm just glad people actually hung onto them so we can still laugh and be titillated this way in 2025!

I could imagine this gag appearing on "Married...With Children" where the device barely registers with Al while it explodes when Peg tries it.

The gal features is a nice lil' nudie cutie, an early Brazilian look before it became as popular as it is today.

AEET is a one man Antiques Roadshow, featuring neat items that most of us never knew existed but our lives are the better for it.

As always, Thanks Karswell!

I've had my thumb on the screen for like half an hour (most of that time has been trying to type this comment one handed), and the red part hasn't even moved a millimeter. Now I have to clean my computer screen again.

I am sort of surprised that they took the time to draw a whole new picture for the interior of this thing, and yet drew it the exact same way as the cover. Makes me think it's a trace job off some other novelty item. I think we've seen that before. It isn't as if the figures even match the scratchy and hesitant line work on the other decorative doodles featured in the art here, which mostly look like the back cover of some cheerleader's pre-algebra notebook.

As a member of your horror-focused audience, I appreciate that "corpselike" is higher on the meter than "useless." That's pretty dark.

Yeah the man and the women is really kind of interesting; they are different images (won't see spotting the difference on these two in an issue of highlights!) but ... the exact same pose and as close as free handing it could get. Obviously same artist, too. Such a weird thing!

This is a fun little package. I doubt I'd get even to useless but I'd be happy if I made it to EECHH.
