Busy Girls Correspondence Cards

While love is an atrociously awful brew this month over at THOIA, it's quite the opposite here at AEET! And I can't think of a better way to convey that feeling of all-month love than gawkin' at a bunch of gorgeously rendered, 1930's, vixenous Valentine postcard pretties! With eyelashes set to full-batten, and with more curves being thrown your way than a baseball double-header, let's sit back and take in the sights, and don't forget we're just getting started this month, oh boy oh boy!

All very cute. I like a lot of the misc props in these drawings, the desk pad and inkwell/pen, the hookum lounge, the dogs, the chubby sailor. There's a lot of fun art here.

I do have to say the first picture confused me I thought for a second she was turned and looking over her shoulder, there's something a bit strange about that drawing!

I think my favorite is either alive and kicking or dog's life.

Wow, kids had some great classroom valentine packs back then--Which one is for "Teacher"?

Nothing much whets my appetite for a boozy bender like seeing some lass stewing in her own cocktail glass. I never know: Is the glass huge? Part of some kind of liquor spa? Or is she really small, like a garnish? The latter always makes me think of the goldfish swallowing contests of the Roosevelt era.

Happy Valentines month! I too am a little uncomfortable with that first image. I think it's because she still looks so alive, laying there on the ice like that.

Maybe the gal in the cocktail glass is the first femlin.
I don't know who the artist was, but his ladies are a fine blend of realistic with a touch of the cartoon look.

Some postcards are worth keeping, and these are all keepers.
