Mazinger Z Damage

For the 50th Anniversary of Go Nagi's most legendary giant robot of all, Hikari Toys released this mega cool Mazinger Z Damage sofubi (soft vinyl) variant. Burned, blasted, scarred, and a rocket arm completely missing-- Mazinger Z has definitely seen better days! I totally love these "damaged" versions of toys though, for example Star Wars has done it a few times with a battle scarred Darth Vader, as well as some Stormtroopers, but man, applying this concept to one of the mighty Shogun Warriors really tops 'em all! This was another great recent find, and though unbagged / loose, was still a steal at a fraction of the current online cost. I kind of get the feeling (much to my joy) that the seller didn't realize this toy was actually supposed to look like this, haha...

He might be missing a rocket fist but you can bet it is buried deep in the gut of some giant monster!

That's a really cool sculpt and the paint blast damage is cool too!

Between me and the dog, aaaall my childhood Mazingers were battle damaged. And no matter how pristine they looked otherwise they were always missing a rocket fist, too. What's funny is that long after my last Shogun Warrior (a one-fisted Godzilla) had gone the way of the rest, already in my late teens or twenties, I happened to find a Mazinga fist buried deep in the guts in a box I was unpacking after a move. Weird. I'm sure I've still got it somewhere.

Neat find! I love sofubi. Been headed down that rabbit hole for several months now, getting limited editions and Vinyl Artist Gachas. Recommended!

My die-cast Great Mazinger Shogun is also missing a firing fist, --as well as the Jet Scrambler-- and I also have a Dragun missing a fist. All of my Jumbo Machinders are miraculously complete though, minus maybe a rocket or two.
