R.I.P. Mort Drucker - Rosemia's Boo-Boo

We sadly lost another comic book legend yesterday, and today, AEET pays tribute to the heroic hand and masterfully MAD mind of Mort Drucker, who passed away at the age of 91. It's hard to put into words how much this mans art meant to me from my earliest years as a young MAD magazine reader, and today we present a fine example of his craft, from the January 1969 issue of MAD #124.

The man was a superpowered genius and a staple of my childhood. Thanks for posting this so big. All the detail is a wonder.

Rest in peace, Mort.

I forgot how "mean" MAD could be at times, there's a lot of jokes at the expense of Mia Farrow's figure! Ouch!

One things that kind of interesting as I just read some of the earlier Kurtzmen MAD parodies ... Kurtzmen used a lot of multi-panel jokes (very much animation like) and later MAD writers basically depended on single panel jokes (though there are running gags.) Neither is better than the other, but it's a bit interesting, IMHO.

Page 2, panel 3 is the kind of thing I read MAD for. SO much detail packed into the art. The devil tail is great!

I love Mort's Satan here, who was pretty obscured (it's been a while, but I tend to remember that) in the film. Mort goes full on horror comic with him!

BTW, the art is SO dense. What an incredible amount of work!

One of the greatest. Whenever you saw "Quartered by Drucker" on a page, you were always in for some super humor.
