A couple of KING KONG funnies reprinted for the May 1974 issue of The Monster Times #33. Sacrifice originally appeared in The Monster Times #7 (art by Steve Hickman and story by Joe Simons), while the one panel gag originally appeared in the adult men's magazine, Cavalier.

Thank you Mr.K. for these contrasting Kongs.

I feel like all the Steve Hickman I've ever seen in my life were bright orange fantasy book covers, nominally in the Boris mold. I seem to recall a lot of sword fighting cat-headed people, that kind of thing. But this kind of thing I haven't seen before. Besides the humor--I really dig the rocket unicycle and that frame of Kong's gaping maw--this has some of the most organized and clear brush work I've seen in a while. I mean, I'm very impressed that he can render in this overly mechanical way but still never totally disappear into the kind of awkward, inert images that usually result from an over-reliance on technique.

That's some fine-lined work from Hickman. Very impressive!

My favorite is still the one-panel gag strip. The art is scratchy but cool, I like the washed look and the expression on Kong is priceless, it really sells the joke.
