Ten P.M. Cook Book (PART ONE)

Good Housekeeping's Ten P.M. Cook Book (1958) is a typically fun little booklet from this great line of softcover cook books published by The Hearst Corp; all of them are full of eye poppingly cute artwork (this time by the terrific Tye Gibson) and killer hand lettering, and of course the gloriously delicious concoctions: holiday fare, treats on a tray, pick me ups, dips, dunks, spreads, ready mades, and hot treats etc. We'll have highlights from the second half of this book in our next post-- right now, I gotta get ready to eat some food myself!

Hope ya'll have a super Thanksgiving today!

I sure wish Halloween parties looked like that for real. Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you made some of the human flesh recipes on the first few pages of this cookbook. You can tell by the color of the meat that these people are really enjoying their families.

I love it when ladies are illustrated like that, with small yet pointy titlets.

I'm fond of the grey sponge paint work in some of these, ie the grandfather clock, her dress, shading behind the fridge, 4th of July zoom trail
