The weather is really getting nice in these parts, I guess it's time to do some stuff I hate, like finally washing the crummy car! But here's a cool ad from an early 70's magazine (featuring some neato teeny illustrations I blew up) --it's the multi-purpose, spray-on / wash-off, 5-minute wash at home, pressure washer, --aka JET X! Clean's all kinds of dirty stuff, even your girlfriend!

The Cookie Collection Art of Luciana
Things have been pretty spookie around here for awhile-- now it's time to get COOKIE! McCall's Cookie Collection booklet from 1974 is 60+ pages of AWESOME CUTENESS. Yeah, the recipes are tasty and adventurous, but OMG look at these stunningly colored illustrations that grace the pages by Luciana! If you're not squealing and falling on the floor from 100% pure adorable overload, then lard help you! Anyway, lots more McCall's squeal-inducers comin' atchas all this month --I do promise to mix it up in the variety department too! :)

My Gorey Birthday!
My friend Sheila suggested I have a "gory" birthday today, and I thought that sounded like a splendid idea. Taking it to a more artistic level, I thought I'd share some frontispiece, interior, and cover illustrations by one of my heroes, Sir Edward Gorey from great books of horror and mystery by John Bellairs. Enjoy this eerie sampling of highlights from a half dozen or so titles including: The Spell of the Sorcerer's Skull, The Eyes of the Killer Robot, The Dark Secret of Weathered, The Hand of the Necromancer, The House with a Clock in Its Walls, and more! (And thanks again to Drazen Kozjan for assistance in helping me further expand both my Gorey and Bellairs collections :)

There Were Three Ghostesses
Have you gotten fingered over at THOIA yet this week? If not, click HERE to get in on that action-- cuz today here at AEET we're greasing down our fistesses right up to our wristesses as we begin winding down the Halloween in April festesses! This is a cute, but very odd little English nursery rhyme that I somehow actually vaguely remember hearing somewhere as a creepy lil kid. No one has ever taken credit for penning it, though the art is by Kelly Oechsli, and comes from Bill Martin, Jr.'s "Sounds Around the Clock" collection from 1966. I'll have more from this book next month too as it's full of great artwork and super fun stories :)

Bugs Bunny Halloween Hulla-Boo-Loo!
Fun activity pages from Gold Key's Golden Comics Digest: Bugs Bunny Halloween Hulla-Boo-Loo #26 from November 1972. Games, puzzles, jokes, and a few very "off model" illustrations to laugh and shake your head at, these digest sized comic collections were always a blast to get when I was a kid-- and over 150 pages for only 50 cents, you were definitely getting your money's worth!
