I Want Your Body!

"--to be adorned in vintage Collegeville Halloween costumes!" said the mummy. Yeah, it really doesn't get much better than these devil and skeleton costumes I have for you today. Both come in the same, die-cut pumpkin window box package design, and both are complete with the exception that the skeleton frock smock is an unfortunately brittle, untouchable pile of disintegrated fabric (so no pix of that available, sorry!) Both masks though are quite glorious, and brightly colored, the devil in particular is in near perfect condition. The skeleton, though a bit warped, definitely steals the show with that black widow forehead and gruesome gore gushing from his boney bottom chompers. We haven't even exited September officially yet, but be warned that from here on in AEET is officially in Halloween 2025 mode! Hang tight for lots rots more fun 'n festive frights!

that skull is pretty great - I think it would fly even today

These are great finds. The devil mask for some reason reminds me of Bluto/Brutus, Popeye's foe. It must be the sneering expression. The devil smock looks like an evil genie ready to grant three wishes- for a price!

The skull mask looks like the exaggerated skull face in the 1932 Flip the Frog cartoon "Spooks".

The last few days of September are the dress rehearsal for October and All Hallows, time to get ready for the big night but at a lightly less frantic pace.

Man, that biker beard on the Devil is a great touch. Horns, 'stache, eye bags, fangs, wee little flame on the forehead. The Skull is the same. I love this era over at Collegeville. There isn't one square inch of area on these masks that hasn't been crowded with neon detail. All of these classic masks look to me like clown themes: This clown's a devil that one's a skeleton. It's like two costumes for the price of one.

Great finds! (Too bad about that smock. I'll bet it was a doozy in its day!)

The devil looks more like an Indian rakshasa (ogre)

JMR777 beat me to it; the minute I saw that devil I thought "Bluto" and I can't really pin it down, either, but the sneer is definitely a 50s style cartoon mouth. I love the use of red / yellow / black here, everything stands out and pops. The smock with the gold sparkle feels like what dancers wears in hell!

The skeleton is great, too, and I really enjoy the mummy and his very mad magazine style bits and bobs; for some reason I get a chuckle out of the regular old pink band-aid!
