I have many friends and family with birthdays this month, so this post goes out to everyone growing another year older here in June 2025. And if you're a fan of Al Capp, Lil Abner, and of course gorgeous lil Daisy Mae, then this vintage, midcentury birthday card (all the way from Dogpatch U.S.A. no less!) will surely make your dae-- errr, day! Happy barefootin' Birthday, yall!

Hats off to you Karswell for the Topps interview! They knew you were the right guy to ask about monster cards, being a fan of all things monster.
As for the great card, Al Capp looks like a middle aged Lil' Abner, nothing bad about that, of course.
Thank you, JMR! If anyone’s interested in seeing all 55 Weird Wheels cards, just click here in the AEET 2013 Archive:

Yup, seconded, definitely congratulations on the article and it's nice to see your work getting appreciated, like your loyal fanbase does.
The card is a real window into a very different time when comic strip artists were as famous as their creations. Capp is a larger figure in the interior!
Excellent interview! And, or course that is one of my favorite sets of trading cards. It's interesting that Garbage Pail kids turned into such a such a touchstone that they are used as that examples of the format. I mean, I love the GPK cards (which were probably the last cards I actively bought and traded with my friends just like I was supposed to), but it's strange that they would overshadow their forebears in modern minds.
Thanks again everyone for checking out the interview, I was definitely beyond thrilled to talk to TOPPS about Weird Wheels!
Got more Dogpatchery up next, see ya in a bit…
