Flintstones Friday: Mini Card Game + Remco Motorized Yacht Hobby Kit (Box Only For $ale)

Ed-U-Card's Flintstones Mini Card Game from 1967 is a teeny tiny deck of rummy lovin', prehistoric fun, with each card featuring fully painted, and occasionally slightly off-model artwork. And speaking of Flintstones and off-model, I recently found the box for Remco's Motorzied Yacht Hobby Kit (see photos at the end of the post), --and as much as I love this era of Flintstone toys, I certainly don't need an empty old box. If anyone wants it just send me an email or comment and we can work out the price in $$$ or trade. It's in good condition, with slight staining, a taped area, and typical cardboard corner / box edge wear 'n tear. Yabba Dabba Doo!

I love the Little Golden-style storybook art on the cards (I was expecting the standard cartoon style on the backs to be on the faces, too)--but not as much as I love the alternate universe model-sheet work of those box illustrations. I especially love patient Betty and Wilma on the boat and sad Fred and Barney in the Paddy Wagon.

Love the paddy wagon toy that was modeled after the one used in "The Swimming Pool" episode (except the creature underneath was a more visually-interesting giant black armadillo).

And just imagine today's animation studios and networks approving a plaything where their characters are incarcerated!

On card "2", there's a cartoon sabertooth tiger, and on card "4", there's a realistic one which looks super out of place in this world!

I love the kind of washed out illustrations, not a good art spotter but some kind of paint? Fred is like really close, like 99% there! Wilma just gets a new hair color, Barney is close and then super far off model on the same card set, and all the more realistic dinosaurs are a real trip!

My favorite would be "2".

I had a deck of those from Woolworth's. That's when I learned "that cat" had a name!
