Little Audrey and the Moon Lady

Halloween is all about tricks, treats, and dressing up. And while todays post isn't exactly a Halloween story, it does contain plenty of tricks and plenty of dress-up, and of course the fabulous Harvey Cartoon Studios artwork from 1960 Wonder Books is always a treat! And "Ood-goon!" to all arty-smoon ants poons who don't agree (that's moon talk, you know!)

Boy, what lovely illustrations. I was always a Little Golden Books man myself, but Wonder books certainly have a lot to offer, judging from this beautiful work!

Agreed! The colors here are especially gorgeous. I think it's astoundingly odd that all the neutral ground action takes place in the basement. When the camps are talking among themselves, they are in bedrooms or tree houses. But when they confront one another, they do it in the basement.

"Audrey had cut Lucretia's face out of the photograph and pasted it in the lens of the telescope." The story forgets to mention that she also turned the focus knob around backwards or this would have never worked.

haha, uhhh... yes?

The LGB were of course king, but good art is good art, and as the title page of this book states "Produced and Created by Harvey Cartoon Studios." Can't beat that!

>The story forgets to mention that she also turned the focus knob around backwards or this would have never worked.

This telescopic law only applies in reality Mr C, not cartoonland!

Fun observations, thanks for the comments... hope to post more LGB and Wonder Books and the like in coming months. Anyone got a request?
