Host to Ghosts!

Ever wondered what it would be like to get invited to one of Alfred Hitchcock's notorious horror-filled "ghost party" shindigs of the 50's? The November 1956 issue of Suppressed has the answers, --and they have the spooky photos as proof too! Tombstone invites, zombie maitre d's, hearses, caskets, everything draped in black, etc... --the perfect soiree for 'ol Mr. Karswell!

Now I want to know what a charity racketeer might be.

I wonder if this was inspiration for Bob Burns' Halloween display back in the seventies, or inspiration for the booklet on how to set up your own haunted house.
I could imagine either Lugosi or Karloff being the haunted house host for such an event.
This is something Charles Addams never turned into a comic- The Addams Family opening their home to the neighbors during October, and one of the guests replying "You sure did a great job setting up the illusion that this house is haunted" whereupon Gomez and Morticia, along with a ghost appearing through a wall, asking in unison "Illusion???"

Aw, I love Thelma Ritter. This is just exactly the best type of environment to meet celebrity faves.

I think that Elvis photo is from the moment he saw Meg Myles on the cover!

I love the fiends, that seems like a fun bit to be, just hanging around and being creepy, and unlike my normal day, getting paid for it!

The footprints into the crack is a *great* gag.
