Some of you showed up with lame Halloween costumes and terrible ideas for party games-- it's time that evil
Mr. Karswell shows you how it's done-- sheesh people, come on!
Everything (including our last post image) is from the October 1964 issue of Jack and Jill.
The page with the pumpkinhead holding the banner (and yet another cat boy!) is my favorite, but those gleeful puzzle skeletons are a close second. I also love the way the jack-o-lantern's pupils float in the middle of his hollowed-out sclera. Now that's a cool carving trick to know!
ReplyDeleteFor the first picture featuring the witch, black cat and jack o lantern- what would be scarier than a witch with eyes that follow you?
ReplyDeleteHow about a witch with NO EYES!
With a little white out/photoshop/windows paint/your favorite art program, you end up with a witch with all white eyes staring at you, like something out of a Japanese horror tale. Now that would be nightmare fuel.
man!!! that WHO-O-O? page is so neat! i'd totally color that in with reds and browns and oranges and make it all psychedelic and cool!
ReplyDeletei'll prob show up to the party with a bag head costume. cause that's the way i roll.
Haha!
ReplyDeleteJack and Jill used to be so great, super artists and fun ideas-- I have a few more posts coming up from this issue (including a couple stories), thanks for the comments!
