I guess I'm the only person enjoying this scorcher of a summer, yeah it's a bit excessive reaching into the triple digits, but I'll take the heat over the ice and snow anyday. Hey, why not do like the gent pictured below: set yourself up outdoors in your favorite lounge chair, under a nice shady tree, with some cool drinks in hand, a turntable and some good tunes, right next to... umm, the sprinkler. It all looks so shockingly relaxing!

All About Hypnosis
In 1968, Flash Books published "All About Hypnosis", a perfectly small, completely square "pocket library of modern living" edition. And while the book may be all about hypnosis, this post is actually all about the handful of hypnotic, stylized cartoon illustrations that grace the chapter headers within (artist unknown.)

A Cold Day in Hell
I haven't posted greeting cards from my collection in a few months, so to anyone I forgot to send wishes to lately, this is for you-- a fun assortment of birthday cards (mostly pre-60's Nova Laugh series) featuring fantastic art and ever witty writing. Lots of devilish winks thrown around, unraveling clothes, vices and villains, etc... I've even included back cover art whenever possible.

100 Days Until Halloween!
While actual, real Halloween fun awaits 3 months from now, lets get everyone at least thinkin' about it (okay, who's not thinkin' about Halloween?!) and today we have some highlights from the Oct. '67 issue of Children's Playmate Magazine, (not to be confused with the other Playmate magazine for adults featuring different kinds of hallow-weiners!) Here we have games, projects, tricks, contests, and much more-- I'll post the rest of this issue later this fall!

A Bird's-Eye View of the Postwar World
Here's some highlights from a fun little gag digest put out by Consolidated Book Publishers in 1945, showcasing a comedically paranoid knee-jerk reaction to man's place in an ever changing world, vs. the technology of the time: electronics, airflight, robotics, privacy invasion etc... lots of good artists in this one too!
